FDMS - Flight Data Management PDF Print E-mail
FDMS is designed to operate in both Airfield and Area Control environments and may be configured to produce paper or electronic flight progress strips or both.

In paper strip mode, a rolling 76 hour (configurable) active flights window displays Flight Data Entries (FDE) for the last 24-hour period, and the forthcoming 48 hour period (configurable) and flight progress strips are produced at pre-set (userfdms configurable) times before ETA / ETD. Data is captured from the AFTN for Doc444 and related ADEXP messages and an instantaneous update of workstation displays reduces the need for voice co-ordination between sector controllers.

The Code-Callsign sub-system utilises a dualised link to pass SSR code, Callsign and RVSM status to the installed RDPS. In eStrip , mode the application makes possible an adaptable, flexible and fully integrated Air Traffic Management System delivering efficiency, and improved working environment along with benefits to aviation partners. Benefits of deploying eStrips include:

  • Existing FDMS Server side processes are unchanged
  • No need for specialised printers thereby reducing maintenance and operational costs.
  • Reduction in handling of paper documents (Airfield Charts etc)
  • Streamlined workflow
  • Further reduction in voice co-ordination between sector controllers
  • On-line access to dynamic data such as current ATIS code, QNH, METAR, NOTAM and Squawk Codes, also Airfield Charts and other static data

In both modes, Eurcontrol CFMU ADEXP messaging may be deployed to co-ordinate movements with adjacent ATSU controllers.
