BYTRON, the UK aviation data management specialists, today announced that it has enhanced its skybook® fuel analysis application by adding a carbon accounting function.
The Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) software tool that may be integrated with the skybook® electronic flight bag, accurately calculates and reports on the level of C02 produced by aircraft operators. Captured data can be analysed and reported on through the skybook® ground based service. The application will help aircraft operators meet the immediate demands of the European Emissions Trading Schemes (ETS). In addition, a full set of reporting tools enables operators to compare fuel consumption/emissions on same and different type aircraft and by route.
BYTRON Business Development Manager David Marks, said; "Airlines have been under pressure to meet the August 31st 2009 deadline for submitting their plans for monitoring carbon dioxide emissions and, although the deadline has been extended the requirement is still urgent. We are still aiming to have the application fully field tested by the August 31st deadline and a European airline will commence operational trials on August 1st."

BYTRON Ltd is delighted to announce it is providing further flight management solutions to OpenSkies as the airline expands its operation into Newark, NJ.
BYTRON has been providing flight briefing services to the unique all business airline since its inaugural flight in June last year operating out of Paris and JFK. In line with current services, BYTRON is providing its skybook® service plus all crew room equipment, including workstations, printers and network infrastructure which is remotely monitored from BYTRON’s base in the UK, providing automatic alerts about equipment and system serviceability. VOIP communications are utilised to allow crews to contact BYTRON Help Desk and the airline operations department in the UK providing direct support when required. This service negates the need for OpenSkies to provide their own IT support in Newark, JFK or Orly and instead rely on BYTRON’s proven track record in this arena.
Simon Clayton, BYTRON’s Aviation Solutions Manager commented, "BYTRON and OpenSkies are two companies at the forefront of their industries, providing innovative and ground breaking services. We both like to do things differently and in the words of Openskies ‘we’re not like everyone else’. We are delighted to be supporting operations in New Jersey and congratulate OpenSkies on their continued success. We look forward to supporting OpenSkies as its operation expands."
